Energy systems are becoming ever more interlinked. The demand for secure, reliable, and inexpensive energy is greater than ever. In order to satisfy these demands whilst utilising the wealth of renewable resources available, energy providers are seeking to combine the advantages of individual networks with the growing opportunities of synergies. Intelligent solutions are necessary to combine energy infrastructures and create smart grids. This transformation requires energy suppliers and grid operators to not only optimise the key elements within their networks, but also to develop smaller niche elements which can provide greater technical or economic success.
DBI identifies and analyses short- and medium-term network optimisation opportunities on the basis of network calculations and target-network planning. Examples of these opportunities include the increase in feed-in capacity for renewable gases via the establishment of a dynamic pressure control, the reduction in LPG usage for biogas conditioning, and viability and economic efficiency analyses of smart elements such as bivalent preheating in gas pressure and regulating stations.

    • Identification of opportunities for optimisation dependent on present and future grid demands
  • Estimating the potential of dynamic pressure control as a means of integrating renewable gases, and realising these estimations with state-of-the-art technology
  • Technical and economic analysis of smart elements such as bivalent (gas- and electricity-powered) drive technologies and preheating systems
  • Economically viable planning of new network connections
  • Optimisation of network topologies and supply strategies
